Burton Snowboards: The Shortest Days of the Year

To most snowboarders, the word Alaska conjures up thoughts of gnarly mountains, steep couloirs, endless untouched powder faces and some old dude asking Travis what planet the fuck he’s from. It’s usually only the most serious and dedicated jibbers who would ever consider venturing way up North – to a land where it’s only light for a few hours a day, to hit a bunch of street rails. But that’s exactly what it takes to get original urban shots in the bag these days and while Terje, Jussi and Müller are ripping down open powder faces, Jeremy Jones, Zak Hale, Alex Andrews and Ethan Deiss are busy setting up spots and sliding concrete, metal and brick.

When edits like this one represent the fruits of their hard labour, we think it’s a worthwhile endeavour: the footage is interesting, unique and there’s a bit of a story behind it. As more and more crews make the journey up to Alaska to hit rails, this could all change of course. Still, this a really nicely put together, mellow edit with a ton of good urban snowboarding in it and we’re sure there are still plenty of street spots up there to keep us entertained for a while yet.
