We brought you the teaser, now it’s time for the real thing. This third and final chapter of the Nike Snowboarding project sees Justin Hostynek and the Nike team go deep into the backcountry, after the previous street and park edits. Hostynek – one half of the legendary Absinthe films – shoots Danny Kass, Nicolas Müller, Gigi Rüf and Eric Jackson riding waist deep powder with a Super 8 camera and the resulting grainy silent-movie style black and white shots leave you expecting a dastardly top-hatted gentleman to pop out from behind a tree at any moment and tie one of them to a train track.
Luckily for us this doesn’t happen, and instead we’re treated to glorious powder lines and big backcountry hits from this ridiculously experienced crew. Justin has been filming with Nico and Gigi for years, and it really shows – he gets the best out of those two, as well as half pipe supremo Kass and trick-happy Jackson. We even get treated to some of Jackson’s finger-pickin’ guitar skills.
Nico told us in an interview last year that “if you enjoy riding then people will enjoy watching it.” He’s not wrong.
