Can You Cut It? Ironically, it turns out we can’t, at least when it comes to technology. Our annual Absinthe Editing Competition (Can You Cut It? 2013) was supposed to go live last week, but we’ve had a few issues. Basically this year Absinthe have sent over more footage at a higher resolution than they ever have before. So much so in fact that they had to resort to snail-mailing over a hard drive with it over from their HQ in Switzerland because online file-sharing just couldn’t handle it!
What this means is that this year all of you entering the comp will have more and better footage to play with, which’ll no doubt make for better-looking edits. Unfortunately, it also means it’s taking us a while to work out the best way to distribute this file. We’ll have it sorted by the end of the week, but in the meantime, please bear with us. And at the risk of sounding a bit like a train operator, thanks for your patience.
Oh, for those who want to be first off the bat to download the footage when it gets uploaded, please email comps@whitelines.com, and we’ll send you a return email as soon as it’s up online. In the meantime, here’s last year’s winning entry from Tronic Pro for a bit of inspiration…
