Well this is rather exciting:
Like the vast majority of the world wide interweb, we love Instagram. It’s accessible, exciting and a great way to visually show the world what you’re getting up to. The shots look pretty rad too – provided they’re not of the baby, pet or latest-culinary-masterpiece pre-consumption variety (c’mon, nobody wants to see that stuff on Instagram). We introduced a brand new section to the mag this year called Killergrams where we pick a pro and a selection of their most interesting instagrams to share with you and we always thought it would be cool to have a similar feature online as well. Imagine our excitement then when we found out that our fantastic team of resident cybergeeks had been working hard behind the scenes building our very own Instagram page totally from scratch. We’re really happy with how it turned out and reckon you’ll like it too. To check it out, head to www.whitelies.mpora.com/instagram, or navigate to it via the photos tab in the top nav bar.
At the top of the page you’ll find our Instagram feed filled with all of our latest snaps. Click on a photo to enlarge it and read the description/comments, and use the arrows to flick between pics. Below that you’ll find a ‘Get Involved’ sections which gives you a chance to get your snaps on the Whitelines site. We originally set this section to pull in the hashtag #whitelines but found that this resulted in pictures along these lines getting pulled into our feed:
‘Interesting’ and all, but not exactly the right kind of Whitelines… So instead we’ve opted instead for the more specific #whitelinesmag tag. Tagging with either #UKshred or #WLsnow will also have the same effect. Bear in mind that the page updates every half an hour, so you won’t see your images appearing on the site right away.
We’ve also added the Instagram feeds of some of our favourite pro riders: UK shredders, global superstars and a few wildcats thrown in for good measure – the lads out there will no doubt appreciate Swedish party wrecker Kevin Backström’s feed ;) On top of that we’ve also got a section dedicated to our Whitelines November Knockout Tour which touched down in Tamworth for the first leg last Saturday. If you attend any of the stops, remember to take a snap, tag it with #whitelinesrailjam and our favourites will win a load of Whitelines stash.
We hope you like the new section as much as we do – it’s already provided us with hours of entertainment today! We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback in the comments section below. Are there any pro feeds that you would like to see here? Do you have any ideas on how we could improve the feature? All your feedback, be it good or bad, is appreciated so don’t be shy! Oh, and don’t forget to follow us @whitelinesmag ;)
