The legendary King of the Kicker Comp is returning to Rossendale this Sunday (November 7th) bringing chilled vibes and plenty of prizes to one of the oldest dryslopes in the country. Rossendale is the spot where many of the UK scene’s biggest names cut their teeth, including the Brass brothers and Danny Wheeler. It’s also the spot where Steve Bailey famously landed the first 900 on dryslope back in the nineties.

Last year, the kicker at this infamous slope burned down (a sorry tale we documented back in issue 87) but thanks to a group of local riders and slope users, a new, bigger and better one has been built in its place. Last year’s comp, the first since the fire, went off with a serious bang, and this year’s looks set to be better than ever. Organiser and local shred-dog Jamie Keeble said: “We have amazing prizes from Westbeach, Drop, Contraband boards, K2, Salomon, Storm, Ride, Bawbags, AMC Clothing, Colossal, Park, Subvert and tons more INCLUDING CASH!!!” The comp will kick off at 10.30, and there’ll be a BBQ, demo tents and a live DJ. To pre-register, email kingofthekicker@yahoo.com.

Tristan first stepped on a snowboard at the age of 12, and (despite being a bit rubbish) has made a point of riding as often as possible since. He joined Whitelines in 2009, and writes, shoots, films and edits for both the magazine and the website. Having headed up the team in charge of the Whitelines Buyers' Guide for the past four seasons knows more about the geeky side of snowboard kit than anyone should ever have to know.
