Friday Find - Extreme Mountain Unicycling
Over the years we’ve come across some weird and wonderful extreme sports – hangboarding, extreme pogo, wheelchair riding, flyboards, rollercoaster rollerblading and a dude doing trial biking on a ladies vintage bike. Here’s yet another bizarre one to add to that list; forget downhill mountain biking – this is extreme mountain unicycling.
Yes that’s right, these two nutters have ditched their perfectly adequate two-wheeled transportation in favour of an all-round more challenging (and rather ridiculous) pastime. You have to admit it does look petty hard but when it comes down to it, we think this Youtube commenter put it best:
“Cool and all, but you do look like a couple of spastics inching down the mountain flailing your arms about.”
Legitimate extreme sport or pure comedy gold? Either way you’re going to need some seriously hardy groin muscles to take it up…

So many comments about their arm movements—Perhaps these people are trying to apply the conditions for kinematics, which is the study of motion without regard to the influence of mass or force—What they should consider is that these two are eye-candy for kinesiologists :)
That’s impressive and pretty cool, to be honest if you step back and look at snowboarding it’s sliding down a snowy slope with both feet attached to a waxed plank of wood and plastic, nevermind some of the day glo outfits, many aspiring pros now go to special snowboard schools. Imagine mountain unicycling school and the advances in kit when the big mtb brands jump on the bandwagon, There’ll be unicycles with remote lockout suspension and adjustable torque.
There’s a whole world of unicycling out there and has been for many years, trials, street, mountain, this is a tiny example, Kris Holm the first sponsored unicyclist featured in a number of new world disorder mtb videos doing North Shore on a unicycle and things have only got bigger and better since then, with regards to technological development, it ticks along pretty well, we already have geared unicycles and disc brakes these days, suspension posts have been tried but never really worked, many more videos out there that you may find a bit more exciting than this one
