Gnarly headcam POV in Alaska

2 comments 01:07PM Mon, 26th April 2010

Snowboarding’s elite has been descending on Alsaka this past month in order to film the latest video parts and generally push the sport in the ultimate backcountry environment. ‘Tailgate Alaska’ is a new freeride festival which has been capitalising on the annual invasion with a celebration all things AK. Co-organised by 90s legend Nick Perata, it has even brought back the famous ‘King of the Hill’ contest at which Travis Rice just threw down this killer line.

The following footage comes from Tailgater Ralph Backstrom, who donned the old headcam for some steep descents in a region of Valdez called Thompson Pass. Incidentally, he’s riding one of the new Jeremy Jones boards, and from this evidence they’re pretty handy in the pow! If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to drop 60 foot cliffs at mach 10, check this out.
