Jibbing Madrid - Spanish kids' Sierra backyard session

12:11PM Mon, 13th December 2010

Arriving back into the office this morning I found this emailed to my inbox – a sweet video of a backyard session set up by a bunch of Spanish kids from Madrid. Now I don’t know a whole lot about the Spanish snowboarding scene, but I’d guess Madrid isn’t exactly a hotspot for sliding on snow mostly because it’s, well, a hot spot. Which makes this jam sesh on a sketchy-looking wooden rail even more impressive. These lads have got skills!

Here’s what they had to say about it:

A small edit about what we do here in Madrid. We don’t have big resorts or big mountains but we have the “Sierra”, the local mountains of the capital of Spain. With the first snow of the year we built a small secret spot in the middle of the woods where we are having a lot of fun – no fear about hookin’… The riders are the brothers Juan and Jorge Polan, Matias Ian Miño and Paul Puig.

Tristan first stepped on a snowboard at the age of 12, and (despite being a bit rubbish) has made a point of riding as often as possible since. He joined Whitelines in 2009, and writes, shoots, films and edits for both the magazine and the website. Having headed up the team in charge of the Whitelines Buyers' Guide for the past four seasons knows more about the geeky side of snowboard kit than anyone should ever have to know.
