Louie Vito and Queralt Castellet claimed the men’s and women’s halfpipe titles in the first leg of the Dew Tour – the newly named Nike 6.0 Open – which went off at Breckenridge over the weekend. In weather that could only really be described as shitty, Louie managed to throw down a run that went front double 10, cab double 10, crippler, michaelchuck front 10, cab 7 to claim first place. Young guns Matt Ladley and Greg Bretz came second and third respectively, beating a field that included Scotty Lago, JJ Thomas and Finnish pipe wunderkind Iikka-Eemeli Laari. In the women’s comp, Queralt Castellet of Spain beat all the home-country hopefuls, who included Kelly Clark, Elena Hight, and last year’s Euro X Games champion Kaitlyn Farrington. Kaitlyn, who finished third, also turned 21 over the weekend – she may be young, but she’s definitely one to watch this season. Click more to see the full results.
