Marie-France Roy: The dangers of snowboarding

04:56PM Thu, 27th January 2011

Sure, Torstein Horgmo‘s broken a few ribs this season, but it was a really bad year for injuries last year. Amongst the injured were Kevin Pearce, Danny Davis, Nick Dirks, LNP, Andreas Wiig, Chris Grenier, and Pat Moore. All fantastic boarders, but it highlights how dangerous sliding down a mountain on a tray can be. Who would’ve thought it? One of the worst injuries was Marie-France Roy‘s, who fell during filming for the new Absinthe movie over in Whistler, Canada. She only broke her C2 vertebrae thanks to a lucky landing and is lucky to be walking, let alone on the board. Here she takes us through the series of decisions which led to her nearly becoming paralyzed or worse, and how she’s recovering to date.
