Here’s all of the action that went down at the Protest Rock a Rail jam in the Hague a couple of weeks back. Our very own Will Smith was killing it all evening on huge street setup and impressed the judges enough to make it through to the finals – an impressive feat considering he was riding with the likes of Denis Leontyev, Ethan Morgan and Wojtek Pawlusiak. Rather frustratingly, only one shot of him made it into this edit (at 2:10) but at least it’s a banger!
Despite the heavens opening up during the finals with all manner of outrageous weather (including hail!), spectators stuck around to watch the show, such was the level of riding. Len Jørgensen of the Hypermountain crew ended up taking first place overall while Ethan Morgan and Cees Wille rounded out the podium. On the women’s side of things Rachida Aoulad took the win with Gina Somaini and Dina Treland coming in second and third respectively. Gerben Verweij, who was one of the co-creators of the event and played a part in the construction of the rails, ended up getting the best trick with a solid front board through his self-made, long-ass, quad kink rail. Maybe he’d been getting some sneaky extra practice in before the event?
