Shaun White shares the secret of pipe riding with Torstein Horgmo

09:57AM Thu, 7th March 2013

Torstein Horgmo poached a cheeky lap of the US Open halfpipe last week.

But before he dropped in, he turned to the man himself, Mr Shaun White (or should that be Shorn? He’s looking kinda hairless these days after his trim…) to ask him exactly how it is he cleans up at pretty much every competition he enters.

Luckily, Torstein’s filmer left the camera rolling, because he caught what is possibly the most valuable footage ever committed to celluloid (or SD card or whatever it is people use these days): Shaun White sharing the secret of his success.

That double upward blumpkin? It’s all about focus. You focus too hard on the blump, you’re gonna get kinned!

There you go people, you heard it there from the master himself. That’s all you need to go and win yourself a couple of Olympic gold medals of your own – I mean it obviously works instantly for Torstein, doesn’t it?

Tristan first stepped on a snowboard at the age of 12, and (despite being a bit rubbish) has made a point of riding as often as possible since. He joined Whitelines in 2009, and writes, shoots, films and edits for both the magazine and the website. Having headed up the team in charge of the Whitelines Buyers' Guide for the past four seasons knows more about the geeky side of snowboard kit than anyone should ever have to know.
