Shaun White talks to Letterman about THAT crash
We all like a good Shaun White debate, as the comments in this recent post show. I guess the bottom line is, when someone is ridiculously talented (and famous) people will always be fascinated.
This is an old-ish video which we just found from before his Olympic victory, in which Shaun is interviewed by legendary US TV host David Letterman. In it he talks about the terrifying stack he took at the X-Games whilst attempting the new double McTwist 1260, and shows off the scar.

WTF?! On what basis do you say that? Cos he’s making a living from pushing the limits and promoting our sport on tv? He always seems pretty genuine to me and deserves all the success he gets. That crash shows just how hard he is pushing it, and that comment shows just how ignorant you are.
Shaun White is pioneering snowboarding & has paved the way for the sport to grow bigger than it’s ever been. This years X Games were INCREDIBLE & in my opinion it was down to him pushing the limits & opening everyone’s eyes as to what possible. He’s certainly earnt his success & I hope he keeps raising the bar.
Whatever Timmy. Calling him gay is a bit stupid, fair enough, but there’s no way he’s a good ambassador for the sport – yeah he promotes it, but he promotes the “corporate sellout i’m sponsored by Hewlett Packard and Target” vision of snowboarding. No-one wants our sport to end up like football where all the athletes are prima-dona gazillionaires. Or golf, where Tiger Woods’ sponsors seem to dictate every single thing he ever says about his personal life. Now that’s gay. And that’s the direction Shaun White is taking things in.
