True Colour Films Chapter 1 - Living the Car Danchi life in Japan

12:11PM Mon, 26th November 2012

We’ll hold our hands up and admit that we missed the trailer for the new True Colour Films flick ‘Day by Day.’ It’s all good though because the full thing is now being released in five parts and chapter one has dropped to satisfy all but the deepest powder cravings. Chapter one features shredding from Burton’s Swiss, powder loving, fish riding Stephan Maurer, alongside Nicholas WolkenAlvaro VogelRene Schnöller and Thomas Feurstein as they live out the Car Danshi lifestyle in the Japanese Alps. Car Danchi means ‘sleeping in cars’ apparently and is a reference to the movie series of the same name from powder chaser Neil Hartman.

And what a lifestyle it looks! Sleeping in a van with your best buddies, cooking your food on a gas hob with snow meltwater, chasing the powder and hiking for all of your lines. It certainly isn’t be for everyone but it has to be one of the purest ways to experience snowboarding. While half of the crew were out in Japan, the other half were back in Arlberg in Austria for one of the heaviest dumps in recent memory. Yes, this is one powder heavy, beautifully shot 10 minutes of snowboarding bliss.
