Despite also offering a top-notch slopestyle and halfpipe, there was no question that the inaugral World Snowboarding Championships‘ crowning glory was the quarterpipe.

What’s not to love? Kim Rune Hansen stomping a double backside rodeo, Olivier Gittler showing crazy consistency for the win, and Terje Haakonsen putting the young bucks in their place with the highest air of the night (a method, naturally).

It’s a strong case for the argument that QP events are criminally overlooked these days. Crowd-friendly, easy to follow, with style (and balls) taking centre stage. Take note Olympic/X-Games folk….
